Rubber headlamp (stirnlamp) Restoration
A quick restoration of the rubber housing received on Friday (August 2021); was lucky enough to encountered a €9 ‘Buy It Now’ deal from a Russian seller, didn’t know there was a rubber version head lamp before working on the last headlamp. Recently a functional rubber head lap is selling for €400.
The German rubber quality is the top, the eight decades old rubber (marking is 41) are still faxable and no sign of aging, only dirt and damage course by cutter, it been cut opened to removed the metal parts of the lamp and one of the strip loop been torn opened.
Aron Alpha glue for Wood & Leather is the best friend for repairing rubber, just a few minutes both wounds been healed.
The shape been deformed due to neglected and pressure on top, it is unable to back to shape in my knowledge, my solution is to attach a piece of 0.3 mm aluminum, it is able to remove without residue of glue left with little work when the shape is fixed.
A makeshift lamp housing been made from aluminum parts, as I fund there is a blue filter came with the battery box of last head lamp, which should be the correct diameter of this lamp.
Detail of lamp housing, cable and strap will be complete later.
