Map Table PIU 700x700mm Restoration–The Missing Metal Parts

The table lost all small metal parts and one hinge bracket, only has three good legs and one leg with broken hinge.

I have no experience and equipment to reproduce these parts, only made drawings and models to confirm the accuracy in 3D.

I am really lucky to have the help from my friend Jara Elblik to made me these parts from my pencil drawings.

He is so skillful and built me accurately parts and sand spray before coated black.

The locking levers for two legs frame is the most essential part but not accurate to original, which is based on reference on pics and holes on the table, as asked for information from map table owners, but in vain.

The broken hinge set is next critical part, the first one was in wrong diameter, and built the correct on on next day.

I am so lucky to locate one more table but with only four legs left.

Shouldn’t ask Jara to make another set.

So sent the drawings to a metal workshop to make the parts in steel.

They completed the order within two weeks and looking quiet good.

Tried to mounted these parts onto the table temporary and fits well on most of the parts.

Proofed that my drawings are accurate, but the workshop didn’t follow all details.

Found the hinge base is not in flat base, needs to add 4mm to raise the base.

Will swop all with Jara’s parts later.

Jara’s parts are duly received on late August, all well made and blackened.

All from his homebased workshop.

Hardly wait to installed onto the table.

Now it is all perfectly restored.
