Richtkreis Messkreis Restoration (February 2020)

The most essential part between the Scherenfernrohr and the tripod is the turning drum, Richtkreis Messkreis.

This is another over engineering piece of the German gear, without it no degree can be read when turning the big rabbit ears scoops on top.
My friend sent me two rusty relics of the drums, only one could be restore, the other one is too decayed, the iron top rotten likes cheese only fits as a donor.
Top of the drum is made of iron and rotten over the decades, its bottom is in brass and almost like new.

After soaked in citric acid and WD40 the small knobs can turns and the top of the drum moves but not smooth.

The big knob had broken its shaft but still can rotate.
Now waiting for locking shafts and butterfly nut to complete its function.
