Bunkerofen Wehrmacht

Bunkerofen Wehrmacht

To get approval from wife to store the bunker oven indoor, must deal with the rust properly, happened to found the ‘Rost-Oleum High Heat Coating spray’ claimed to be withstand 1000°F 538°C, which should be safe for burning wood and charcoal in such low air flow, also to protect from rust.
Upon dissembling found the seller did a great job on restore the oven, all cast iron parts are relics with some corrosion dents but intact, the grill and the carrying handle are smooth with no dents, should be new made, but unlike other replica oven the grill is not made by laser cut but by sand moulding.
If it is all original it may not that easy to dissemble without damaged the screws.
The sheet metal body and the sliding plate are new made too, as sheet metal can’t survive the element in field.
The two halve heat shield is quite difficult to reinsert into the body, it must sit onto the stopper in right way and the front and back must be correct too.
It became a furniture now, all parts are sealed by the coating and clean enough to keep in the room, excepts the smells of paint will last for a month or more.
